EPILOGUE OF A CAR CRASH... A TRIBUTE TO ORCHID...

Epilogue Of A Car Crash... A Tribute To Orchid... was released in March 2013 by an independent record label in the UK called Dog Knight Productions. They usually deal with bands who fall under the genre 'screamo' which is why this seems like such a perfect compilation for them to release.

Orchid, along with a few other bands, were one of the pioneers of sreamo music in the late 90's/early 00's. They took the original 80's sound of emo and twisted it until it became abrasive and chaotic with fast paced drumming, blood-curdling vocals, and screeching guitars. They released 3 full length albums during their time as a band along with various splits and E.P's before parting ways in 2002. 

This compilation consists of 25 tracks by 24 bands (sed non satiata covered 2 tracks) and  is a great way to get a feel for what current bands within the genre are doing at present. With Orchid being such an iconic band to people and musicians within the genre, it is quite clear that a lot of the bands on the compilation were in it to just enjoy themselves, however, some of the tracks are really just a lesser version of the original which can be quite disappointing. As short as some of their songs are, Orchid are believe it or not quite technical in their sound which is where a lot of bands struggled. Stand out tracks come from Cassus, Sed Non Satiata, and Foxes. They get their covers near perfect but still manage to be able to put their own spin on their tracks and without a doubt make the most impact to the listener when hearing it for the first time. They really get across what screamo music is all about. There are tracks on here which will be disappointing but if you are a fan of Orchid and/or looking for new bands to discover them I would definitely recommend listening to this.
